Is it really new

I was reading this morning about electric cars being charged as they go along by pads in the road! This is not a new concept as it has been demonstrated before on programs like Tomorrows World and we know how long ago that finished.
  So why do we keep pretending this is new? why can we not admit our dads thought of it first and give them so credit.
